In the high-octane action film "Shoot 'Em Up", Mr. Smith (Clive Owen) finds himself in the midst of a chaotic gunfight when he intervenes to deliver a woman's baby, Donna Quintano (Monica Bellucci), on a rooftop. As the bullets whizz by and the mother-to-be lies mortally wounded, Smith takes it upon himself to protect the newborn from the ruthless gang of armed mercenaries led by Hertz (Paul Giamatti).
