Herbie Fully Loaded is an action-packed comedy that follows Maggie Peyton (Lindsay Lohan), a shy and introverted college student who inherits her late grandfather's beloved 1969 Volkswagen Beetle, Number 53. To her surprise, the car has a mind of its own and is equipped with a magical mechanism that allows it to drive itself. Initially, Maggie struggles to connect with Herbie, as she names the car, but as they spend more time together, she discovers the car's incredible racing abilities. Recognizing an opportunity, Maggie decides to enter Herbie into various racing competitions, including the NASCAR circuit.
