As the sun sets over the dusty tracks of NASCAR, a new star is born. Cole Trickle, a talented but untested driver, has been given the chance to prove himself in the cutthroat world of professional racing. With the guidance of veteran mechanic Harry Hogge, Cole learns the ins and outs of high-speed driving and begins to turn heads on the track. But success brings with it a price, as Cole soon finds himself locked in a fierce rivalry with a seasoned driver named Rowdy Burns. The two men engage in a series of high-stakes battles on the track, with each trying to outmaneuver the other. As tensions rise and the stakes grow higher, Cole's ego begins to get the better of him.
