Plot
In the witty and satirical comedy Mean Girls, Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) is a bright and ambitious 16-year-old who has been homeschooled in Africa after her parents' decision to relocate there. Upon returning to the United States and enrolling at North Shore High School, Cady finds herself navigating a complex social hierarchy dominated by The Plastics, a group of popular and ruthless girls led by Regina George (Rachel McAdams). Initially, Cady is drawn into The Plastics' orbit, thanks in part to her own innocence and naivety. She becomes fast friends with Gretchen Wieners (Lacey Chabert) and Karen Smith (Amanda Seyfried), who are both loyal to Regina despite being increasingly marginalized by their leader's favoritism towards new recruit Janis Ian (Lizzy Caplan). As Cady becomes more embroiled in The Plastics' drama, she begins to develop feelings for Aaron Samuels (Jonathan Bennett), Regina's ex-boyfriend. This sparks a series of events that ultimately lead to Cady being ostracized by her former friends and forced to confront the harsh realities of high school politics.
